Constance Smith-Clemens (Ed ’96) participated in Miami University’s Earth Expeditions global field course in Namibia this past summer. She studied ongoing research projects, such as radio tracking, cheetah conservation and ecosystem management, as well as the design of school and community programs. Smith-Clemens is a library media specialist at Akron Public Schools Ellet High School and is a graduate student in Miami University’s Earth Expeditions program.

Dr. Shane Kibbe (MS ’08, MED ’12) joined Clark Memorial Hospital in the orthopedic practice of the Orthopedic Surgeons of Southern Indiana, located in Jeffersonville, Ind. |
Julia Dolce (Ed ’00) was nominated for the 2018-2019 LifeChanger of the Year Award. She is a special education teacher at Chardon Hills Magnet School in Euclid, Ohio. The award recognizes and rewards the very best K-12 educators and school district employees across the United States who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence and leadership.

*Megan Zech (MEd ’18) accepted a position as assistant director of the Career and Development Center for the College of Health Sciences and Professions at Ohio University, located in Athens, Ohio.

Michael W. Eberly (A/S ’73), Onsted, Mich., 68. He was an ex-officio board member of the Catharine S. Eberly Center for Women, which was named in honor of his mother. He also served on the center’s scholarship committee.
**Dr. Michael J. “Sonny” Ahern III, Toledo, 79. He joined the faculty in 1974 as an assistant professor of business education and later moved to the Finance Department in the College of Business. Ahern retired in 1993 and was named professor emeritus.
Dr. Mats A. Fernstrom Toledo, 71. He was a biomedical research assistant at MCO/MUO/UT from 1996 until his retirement in 2011.
Elizabeth A. “Beth” (Vasko) Powers (UTCTC ’78), Oregon, Ohio, 59. She was a baker with Aramark at the University for 31 years.
Deborah Kovac Rump, Maumee, 59. She taught in the College of Law for 15 years. Rump was an avid UT women’s basketball fan, holding season tickets for nearly two decades.
Patricia M. (Nowakowski) Skoczyn, Toledo, 86. She was a secretary at MCO.
William M. Feltman (UTCTC ’81), Toledo, 82. He was an instructor in the former Community and Technical College for several years and then became director of the Computer Learning Center, a position he held for 22 years.
Nelda L. (Smith) Langenderfer (UTCTC ’78), Swanton, Ohio, 92. She was a nurse at MCO who retired in 1982.
Louis W. Nadolny Jr., Oregon, Ohio, 80. He worked as a painter in Maintenance, retiring in 1995.
Geraldine E. (Purdy) Paulson, Toledo, 82. She joined the University in 1977 and retired in 2002.
Thomas S. Raschke, Toledo, 70. He was a former registrar systems specialist at UT.
Martha S. (Harmeyer) Schnetzler, Toledo, 81. She joined the staff in 1977 and retired as an administrative assistant from Mulford Library in 2006.
Edson A. Whipple, Toledo, 86. He started teaching journalism classes at the University as a part-time instructor in 1968. Whipple taught writing, reporting, editing, media law and more until 2005. In addition, he served as adviser for The Collegian for several years.
