**Lloyd Lunceford (A/S ’77) was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2019, one of the most highly regarded referral publications in the legal profession. He is a partner at the law firm Taylor Porter, specializing in higher education, mass communications, commercial litigation and church property laws. Lunceford was selected for the honor in the practice area of education law. Taylor Porter is headquartered in Baton Rouge, La. |

| Jim Haudan (Ed ’78, MBA ’85) had his book, “What Are Your Blind Spots? Conquering the 5 Misconceptions that Hold Leaders Back,” published. The book identifies the five most common leadership blind spots that hamper success. He is the co-founder and chairman of Root, Inc., an organizational change expert. |  |
| Patricia Slupecki (Ed ’89) had her book “Suddenly Widowed: A Memoir of Survival,” published. The book begins the day her husband was killed in a bicycle accident and tells her story of grief and survival while raising her children. |  |

Kathryn Smith (Law ’96) received national recognition for her work in IP law from recognized organizations in the legal market, including Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, World Trademark Review and Who’s Who Legal. Smith is an attorney at Wood Herron & Evans LLP, located in Cincinnati, Ohio. |
Constance Smith-Clemens (Ed ’96) participated in Miami University’s Earth Expeditions global field course in Namibia this past summer. She studied ongoing research projects, such as radio tracking, cheetah conservation and ecosystem management, as well as the design of school and community programs. Smith-Clemens is a library media specialist at Akron Public Schools Ellet High School and is a graduate student in Miami University’s Earth Expeditions program.

Lieutenant Colonel Josh Barrow (A/S ’00) and his brother Major Daniel Barrow (Univ Coll ’05) represented Team USA in the August CIOR Military Pentathlon competition in Quebec City, Quebec. Team USA competed against 40 other NATO teams. The Barrow brothers are a part of the National Guard Special Operations Detachment Unit-Pacific. |

| Bruce Gradkowski (Bus ’05) is a recipient of a 2018 20 Under 40 Leadership Recognition Award in Toledo. He was selected from a field of 255 candidates. The 20 Under 40 program focuses on individuals under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves in their careers and/or the community. Gradkowski is best known as an NFL quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2010 to 2016. Julia Dolce (Ed ’00) was nominated for the 2018-2019 LifeChanger of the Year Award. She is a special education teacher at Chardon Hills Magnet School in Euclid, Ohio. The award recognizes and rewards the very best K-12 educators and school district employees across the United States who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence and leadership.

| Christopher David Johnston (MHSHS ’13) and Katelyn Alexandra Wiley were married on Oct. 19 at Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa, located in Morgantown, W.Va. Christopher is currently pursuing his doctorate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Katelyn is a realtor with Hodge and Kittrell Sotheby’s International Realty. |  |

Michael W. Eberly (A/S ’73), Onsted, Mich., 68. He was an ex-officio board member of the Catharine S. Eberly Center for Women, which was named in honor of his mother. He also served on the center’s scholarship committee.
**Dr. Michael J. “Sonny” Ahern III, Toledo, 79. He joined the faculty in 1974 as an assistant professor of business education and later moved to the Finance Department in the College of Business. Ahern retired in 1993 and was named professor emeritus.
Dr. Mats A. Fernstrom Toledo, 71. He was a biomedical research assistant at MCO/MUO/UT from 1996 until his retirement in 2011.
Elizabeth A. “Beth” (Vasko) Powers (UTCTC ’78), Oregon, Ohio, 59. She was a baker with Aramark at the University for 31 years.
Deborah Kovac Rump, Maumee, 59. She taught in the College of Law for 15 years. Rump was an avid UT women’s basketball fan, holding season tickets for nearly two decades.
Patricia M. (Nowakowski) Skoczyn, Toledo, 86. She was a secretary at MCO.
William M. Feltman (UTCTC ’81), Toledo, 82. He was an instructor in the former Community and Technical College for several years and then became director of the Computer Learning Center, a position he held for 22 years.
Nelda L. (Smith) Langenderfer (UTCTC ’78), Swanton, Ohio, 92. She was a nurse at MCO who retired in 1982.
Louis W. Nadolny Jr., Oregon, Ohio, 80. He worked as a painter in Maintenance, retiring in 1995.
Geraldine E. (Purdy) Paulson, Toledo, 82. She joined the University in 1977 and retired in 2002.
Thomas S. Raschke, Toledo, 70. He was a former registrar systems specialist at UT.
Martha S. (Harmeyer) Schnetzler, Toledo, 81. She joined the staff in 1977 and retired as an administrative assistant from Mulford Library in 2006.
Edson A. Whipple, Toledo, 86. He started teaching journalism classes at the University as a part-time instructor in 1968. Whipple taught writing, reporting, editing, media law and more until 2005. In addition, he served as adviser for The Collegian for several years.
