’60s**Joel Levitan (Pharm ’69) was installed as vice president in the Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA). Levitan has practiced community pharmacy in the city of Toledo for 48 years. For 30 years, he served in leadership roles with the Toledo Academy of Pharmacy. He previously served as the OPA trustee and executive committee member-at-large and is a past recipient of the Bowl of Hygeia Award for service to his community. He is also a past member of the University of Toledo Alumni Association Board of Trustees. |

**Dr. Michelle Janney (UTCTC ’76, NRS ’80, MNRS ’87, PhD ’93) was appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer at Indiana University Health, located in Indianapolis. She had been serving as interim COO for the past 10 months. Janney received the College of Nursing Outstanding Alumna of the Year Award at UToledo’s 2012 Homecoming Gala. |
Paul Ewing (A/S ’72, MA ’78) was awarded faculty emeritus status at Yavapai College, located in Prescott, Ariz. Emeritus status is granted in acknowledgement and recognition of many years of exemplary service to the college, continued commitment to the institution and years of service to the community.

Michael Chung (Bus ’87, MBA ’91) was promoted to CEO of Toyota Financial Services in Seoul, Korea.

*Jim Adams (Law ’90) started a home-based consulting business, Lake Erie Quality Consulting, LLC. He focuses on training and implementation assistance for ISO management system standards, including quality management, automotive quality, environmental management, and employee health and safety management.
’00sAndrew T. Juette (Eng ’01) became partner in the senior management team of JDRM Engineering, located in Sylvania, Ohio. The firm provides professional mechanical, electrical, technology and safety/security engineering services to its clients. Juette specializes in medical, educational, institutional and industrial projects. |

Tony Bova (NSM ’13, Honors ’13) and Jeff Beegle (Eng ’14, Honors ’14) co-founded Mobius, a startup company that creates a plastic alternative from paper mill leftovers. Mobius, located in Tennessee, focuses on converting organic waste to biodegradable plastics for use in agriculture, horticulture, food service and more.

Rosemary Sorg (LLSS ’11, MA ’14) is a teacher at a private English kindergarten and after-school academy in Cheonan, South Korea. She has spent the past six years working in Ireland, Northern Ireland and Korea. While at UToledo, Sorg was an active member of the Rocket Marching Band, the National Society of Pershing Rifles, Toledo Campus Ministry and Epsilon Alpha Pi. |

Bernadette is a civil engineer, and Mark is a bioengineer. The couple honeymooned in Gatlinburg and Nashville, Tenn., and reside in Sylvania, Ohio. |  |

Anna M. (Housley) Andrew, Perrysburg, Ohio, 89. She was a nurse at MCO from 1974 until her retirement in 1991.
Dr. Frank R. Bruening, Marblehead, Ohio, 76. He was a clinical instructor in obstetrics/gynecology from 1996 to 2000.
Phyllis K. (Pietraszak) Fraszewski, Toledo, 89.
**Munawwar J. “Meena” Khan (Ed ‘70), Toledo, 77. She was an instructor of library administration from 1976 to 1980, when she was named an assistant professor. She also served as head librarian in the Learning Resource Center at Scott Park.
Sally A. (Bassett) Malhoit, Toledo, 88. She was a former instructor at the University.
Joe Schwartz (Bus ‘73), Maumee, Ohio, 68. He was a football star who helped the Rockets during their 35-0 streak. Schwartz was selected as the Nicholson Trophy winner in 1972 for contributing the most to the success of the team. He also was named an All-MAC tailback in 1971 and 1972. In 1991, he was inducted into the UToledo Varsity “T” Hall of Fame.
Coann Marie (Clyde) Brown (UTCTC ‘99) Lambertville, Mich., 64. She worked in senior behavioral health, the rehabilitative care unit and surgery orthopaedics.
Charles “Chuck” Dersher, Toledo, 83. He was an instructor at the University and director at WGTE-TV when the station was located on campus. Dersher also took classes at the University.
**Carol A. (Mauter) Joyce (A/S ‘86), Monclova, Ohio, 80. She was a staff nurse in radiation therapy at MCO/MUO/UTMC from 1974 until her retirement in 2001.
Roger D. Schantz, Murrells Inlet, S.C., 82. He started working on campus as a teacher and coordinator for the Data Processing Program. As an assistant professor of business technology and director of the Data Processing Program, he received one of the University’s Outstanding Teacher Awards in 1971. Schantz served on the University’s computer committee, was chair of the curriculum and instruction committee, and was a member of the College Council and Faculty Senate.
James L. Mason, Toledo, 84. He joined the University as an assistant professor in 1969. He taught bassoon, saxophone and jazz courses, and he directed the jazz band. Mason was a member of the University Woodwind Quintet and Faculty Jazz Combo. For 26 years, the Detroit native performed as the principal bassoonist with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Mason was the principal bassoonist for the Toledo Opera, the Toledo Concert Band for Music Under the Stars, and the Toledo Choral Society Orchestra. The musician also performed and recorded with the Detroit Symphony.
Richard N. Newell, Toledo, 86. He was a finance trustee of the Medical College of Ohio Foundation.
Dr. Hal R. Jenks Jr., Saline, Mich., 77. He was a visiting assistant professor of health and human services from 1997 to 2002.
Judith L. (Settles) Katafiasz, Toledo, 60. She was a clerical specialist and word processing specialist in Rehabilitation Services and the Physical Therapy Department at MCO from 1991 to 2001.
Daniel W. Kozak, Toledo, 79. He was operations supervisor at MCO from 1977 until his retirement in 1990.
Heather A. Williams, Westland, Mich., 51. She was an instructor who taught mathematics from 2002 to 2016.
**John B. Neff (Bus ’55), Malvern, Pa., 87. He was a nationally recognized leader in the world of finance, notable for his contrarian and value investing styles. Barron’s Magazine cited Neff as “One of the 10 most influential investors of the 20th century.” Neff was the recipient of the worldwide investment profession’s highest award for his achievements as a superior investment manager steering the Vanguard Windsor Fund for 31 years. Windsor was the largest mutual fund in the United States in 1986, when it no longer accepted new investors. John and his wife, Lillian, married 63 years, were passionate philanthropists and generous donors to the University, contributing a $4 million gift to the College of Business and Innovation. His donations created a faculty chair position in the Department of Finance, the John B. and Lillian E. Neff Trading Floor, an action-learning lab connecting UToledo students to the world stock exchanges. He also established the John B. and Lillian E. Neff Endowed Fund in Excellence, which supports initiatives in the department, and the Neff Jump Start Program, which has provided support to freshman in the College of Business & Innovation since 1992. Neff received the Alumni Association’s Gold T Award at Homecoming in 2005. The award is given to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to his or her field of endeavor and has been of service to the University, community and/or the nation.
