’60’s
**Diana H. (Dee) Talmage (MEd ’65), was inducted into the Ottawa Hills Hall of Fame on April 13, 2013. She is an active supporter of the Ottawa Hills community. In the past she has chaired the School Levy Committee and the Green Bear Ball auction committee. She has proudly served on the Mayor’s Task Force and the Ottawa Hills Foundation Board, including chairing the 2006 and 2007 Hall of Fame events. She was elected to the Ottawa Hills School Board in 1993 and re-elected in 2001. Presently, she represents the Village on the board of the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority.

President of the University of Toledo Alumni Association for the 1991-92 school year, she was appointed by the Governor of Ohio to the Owens Community College Board of Trustees in 2002, reappointed in 2008, and just completed a three-year term as board chair. She is also a Director At-Large on the Owens Community College Foundation Board of Directors. Mrs. Talmage has served numerous organizations as board president.

Mrs. Talmage has been honored throughout her life with recognitions of leadership, volunteerism and fundraising, including the Buckeye CableSystem and the Ottawa Hills Village Voice VIP of the Year in 2008, Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce Athena Award in 2006, American Red Cross Clara Barton Award in 2004, YWCA Milestones Award “A Tribute to Women” in the field of volunteerism in 2002, University of Toledo “Blue T Award” in 1996, DeVilbiss High School Hall of Fame in 1988, and St. Vincent’s Medical Center Guild “Woman of Toledo” in 1977 and 1994.

**Lance A. Talmage, M.D. (Eng ’60, MED ’64), was inducted into the Ottawa Hills Hall of Fame on April 13, 2013. A former Ottawa Hills Boosters Club president, Dr. Talmage served as team physician for the Ottawa Hills football team 1981-2004 and for all girls sports teams 1978-1986. For his outstanding service, he received the Ohio Outstanding Team Physician Award from the Ohio State Medical Association and Ohio High School Athletic Association in 2002.

Dr. Talmage was an Ohio delegate to the American Medical Association for 20 years. He served as president of the Ohio State Medical Association from 1998-1999, as president of the Toledo-Lucas County Academy of Medicine in 1994-1995 and as president of the medical staff at Toledo Hospital from 1989-1991. He was appointed by Ohio’s governor to the State Medical Board of Ohio in 1999 and reappointed in 2004 and 2009. He served as board secretary for nine years. He was elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB). This year, he was elected chair of the FSMB, a national organization representing 70 medical and osteopathic state boards within the United States and its territories.

He has been a member of the Lucas County Domestic Violence Task Force and United Way Cabinet. He has served as president of the University of Toledo Alumni Association during the 2000-2001 school year and on the University of Toledo Foundation Board of Trustees. Currently, he is a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity National Foundation Board of Directors. Dr. Talmage has been honored in the community with the University of Toledo “Blue T Award in 2002 and the “Gold T Award” in 2010, and the Waite High School Hall of Fame in 1996.

Mark Hamen (MEd ’84), recently retired after teaching biology and math for 41 years at Elmwood Schools (six years) and Rossford High School (35 years), where he earned the Jennings Scholar Award. In 2011, he received the Tom Amstutz Assistant Coaches Award from the Toledo Wistert Chapter of the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame.

Kilman Christine Kilman (A/S ’01), Sylvania, Ohio, was recently promoted to vice president of account service at Gelia, a leading marketing communications agency with offices in Toledo, Peoria, Ill., Troy, Mich., and Buffalo, N.Y.

*Timothy Dubois (Bus ’10), Mentor, Ohio, finished his M.S. in accountancy graduate degree from John Carroll University in May of 2012 and has been working as an ERS Consultant at the Big Four accounting firm, Deloitte & Touche, LLP, since July of 2012.

Kate063 Gary (Eng ’98) and Andrea Gurcsik (’99 Bus, ’01 Bus, ’06 MBA), welcomed their second child on October 15, 2012. Her name is Kate Rose Gurcsik.

Dr. William A. Olorunto, Copley, Ohio at 49, was an assistant professor in the department of surgery from 2009 to 2012.

C. Richard “Dick” Griffith, Holland, Ohio at 80, was a former associate director of human resources at MCO during the early 1980’s.

Dr. Jerry L. Morrow (A/S ’59), Knoxville, Tenn. at 79, joined UT in 1962 as director of University relations and as an instructor in journalism. The Toledo native left his administrative post in 1973 to teach full time. He later taught for 21 years at the University of Tennessee, from which he retired in 2005.

Barbara Harpel Jones Steele, Lake Havasu City at 80, a former MCO employee.

Dr. Charles B. Travis III (MED ’80), Largo, Fla. at 74, completed his residency in the MCO Department of Family Medicine and three years later was appointed as a volunteer faculty member with the title of clinical assistant professor in family medicine. In 1990, he joined the MCO faculty as an assistant professor of family medicine and was promoted to associate professor in 2000. For three years, he also served as medical director of the Physician Assistant Program in the School of Allied Health. He received an award from the Lucas County Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Board in 2001 for establishing a curriculum on drug and alcohol issues at MCO. He retired from the University in 2005.
